U.S. distributor case study

Pressed Top Steel Fence Project: 350 Sets for a U.S. Distributor

How we turned a first-time importer's drawing into custom fence production, a matching sliding gate, documented quality checks and an ahead-of-schedule shipment.

Real order · Real production · Real shipment

A U.S. fence distributor placed an order for 350 sets of custom Pressed Top Steel Fence. This was the buyer's first direct fence import from China, and the project also required a matching sliding gate based on the customer's own design.

The main concerns were drawing accuracy, delivery timing, quality documentation and support after the order. We reviewed and clarified the drawing, confirmed the production details, shared the available supporting documents, recorded dimensional checks, protected the finished components for export and completed shipment before the agreed deadline.

Why This First Import Needed More Than a Price

For a first-time importer, a low unit price does not remove the main risks. The buyer still needs to know whether the factory understands the drawing, whether the gate will match the fence, which documents actually relate to the supplied product, how production dimensions will be checked and how the finished goods will be protected during transport.

We therefore treated the inquiry as a complete fence-system review rather than a panel-only quotation. The working sequence was:

  1. review the customer's design and identify details requiring confirmation;
  2. align the fence and sliding-gate requirements;
  3. confirm the manufacturing specification before production;
  4. share available test and conformity documents for buyer review;
  5. record production and dimensional checks;
  6. prepare protective export packing and loading evidence;
  7. keep the buyer updated through shipment.

From Customer Drawing to Production-Ready Details

The buyer supplied an independently designed fence drawing. Before production, our sales and production teams checked the design against the components that had to work together. This included the pressed-top picket appearance, panel construction and the interface with the custom sliding gate.

Where a drawing needed clarification, we confirmed the detail with the customer before releasing it to production. The purpose was not to replace the customer's design intent, but to make the approved information clear enough for manufacturing and inspection.

Practical lesson for buyers A drawing should show more than overall height and width. It should also identify picket and rail sections, spacing, post interfaces, gate opening, operating method, hardware preparation, finish, quantity and revision status.

Custom Sliding Gate Made to Match the Fence

The project required a sliding gate rather than a standard off-the-shelf gate. We manufactured the gate to follow the approved Pressed Top Steel Fence design so the gate and surrounding fence shared a consistent visual profile.

A matching appearance is only one part of gate coordination. Buyers should also confirm the opening width, gate frame, support method, track or operating arrangement, post interface, hardware and any future motor or access-control preparation before production.

Dimensional Checks Against the Approved Specification

Production evidence is more useful when it connects a photograph to a stated requirement. For this order, the vertical picket had a nominal section of 19 × 19 mm. A spot-check photo recorded an external reading of 19.00 mm.

One measurement does not replace a complete inspection record. Panel dimensions, component sections, assembly, finish, quantities and packing should be checked against the final approved drawing and order requirements.

Quality Documents Used for Buyer Review

To help address the buyer's documentation concerns, the review included the available CE Verification of Conformity and Independent Product Test Report. The documents can be viewed in the reports and documents section of our Factory page.

Important scope note These documents support supplier and product review only when their named product, model, test method and scope match the order. CE documentation is not presented here as U.S. product approval. A U.S. buyer should confirm the project specification, applicable local requirements and required evidence before ordering.

Protective Packing for the Finished Fence Components

Finished steel fence surfaces can be marked by component-to-component contact during handling and sea transport. For this order, protective material was placed between finished components before the packed units were wrapped and prepared for loading.

Container Loading and Ahead-of-Schedule Shipment

After packing, the units were loaded into the container with protective boards, wrapping and cargo restraints. The label visible in the loading photo identifies one packed group as 66 pieces; it is not the total order quantity. The complete order was 350 sets.

The goods were completed and dispatched before the agreed shipping deadline. Loading records were shared as part of the order communication, giving the first-time importer a visible checkpoint between finished production and transport.

Customer Feedback After the Cooperation

The buyer's available feedback relates to the cooperation experience. We do not extend it into claims about installation performance or long-term service results that have not been documented.

What Other First-Time Fence Importers Can Learn

  1. Approve the complete system. Review panels, posts, gates and accessories together instead of treating each item as an isolated product.
  2. Control drawing revisions. Make sure the quotation, approved drawing, production instruction and inspection record refer to the same revision.
  3. Ask what each document covers. A report title alone does not prove that it applies to every product or destination market.
  4. Define inspection evidence. Agree which dimensions, components and finish details should be photographed or recorded.
  5. Confirm packing before shipment. State the protection, bundle, marking, loading and unloading requirements in advance.
  6. Set communication checkpoints. Drawing approval, production progress, inspection, packing and loading are useful stages for a first import.
